Fight Night in the Capital
The Beaver Boxing Club will be hosting an Olympic style boxing card on Friday, April 19, 2013. The show will take place at St. Anthony’s Soccer Club, located on 523 Saint Anthony Street. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $10 for youths (17 and under) and kids under 6 are FREE! Doors open at 7PM. Show starts at 7:30 PM.

Joe Sandulo forever a champ
2012 Summer Youth Camp
This summer the Beaver Boxing Club will be holding 5 day boxing camps during the months of July and August to promote the sport of boxing in Ottawa and its surrounding areas.
The 5 day boxing camp will run the weeks of July 23 and July 30. The camps are 3 hours in duration (9AM -12PM), per day (Monday – Friday). The camp is open to male and female youth between the ages of 12-18.
During these 5 days boxing fundamentals will be taught, participants will engage in athletic conditioning and will build mental toughness. The camp will be supervised by a Boxing Ontario certified coach to ensure that all activities are done correctly and safely.
The venue will be the Beaver Boxing Club located on 145 Spruce Street. All required boxing equipment will be supplied through the camp and snacks will be provided each day. To cover costs associated with the camp, a fee of $35 is required for non members ($20 for club members).

Congratulations Nigel!
Congratulations go out to Nigel for losing an incredible 43 lbs since January for his weight loss challenge at work. A big thank you goes out to his classmates who endured the final two weeks of extra hard classes as they helped push him over the top.
New Officials
Six members of the Beaver Boxing club recently completed their Level 1 Officiating course. On Feb 24th the six “officials in training” sat ringside and completed their first of three test scoring sessions.
Level 1 Official’s Clinic
A boxing official is responsible for enforcing the rules fairly and maintaining control.
The Beaver Boxing Club will be hosting a one-day, level 1 official’s clinic on February 18, 2012 from 10AM to 5PM. The facilitator will be Robert Bender, the registration fee is $90 and includes membership with Boxing Ontario – contact Boxing Ontario at info@boxingontario.com to register for this course. The registration fee MUST be paid in advance by Tuesday Feb 14, 2012. The CABA rulebook will be reviewed and participants will be given different scenarios to judge. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a lunch. All are welcome to join!

March 31, 2004: An article from the Ottawa Citizen: Sandulo to receive Ontario award at dinner Joe Sandulo, the president and head coach of the Beaver Boxing Club, will be honoured Friday as one of 10 legends of the sport at Boxing Ontario’s 25th anniversary awards dinner in St. Catharines. Sandulo, who has been involved in the sport for 60 years and in 1948 was the youngest boxer to represent Canada at the Olympic Games, was the only unanimous selection from 30 nominations. Sandulo has coached at the Beaver club since 1951, is a member of the Canadian boxing and Ottawa halls of fame, and was selected the Ottawa sportsman of the year in 1979.
